ONOR Lighting supplied a complete LED floodlighting renewal solution for the Ugao Miravalles soccer field in Spain. The project uses 16 VEGA 1200W sports floodlights with AS-1 polarized lenses, 5000K cool-white output and 16-meter mounting poles. The renewal was developed to improve nighttime field visibility, support more controlled light distribution and provide a reliable lighting platform for regular training and community sports use.

The Project Challenge

A soccer field lighting renewal needs to solve more than a simple brightness problem. Players must be able to track the ball and read the field comfortably, while coaches and facility operators need dependable lighting for repeated evening use.

For Ugao Miravalles, the lighting concept focused on practical field visibility, directional optical control and a robust LED upgrade that could work from 16-meter mounting positions. The high poles create long throw distances, making beam selection and aiming especially important.

Because the site is used for regular sports activity, the system also needed to support comfortable training conditions while directing as much useful light as possible toward the field.

 

 

 

The ONOR Lighting Solution

ONOR selected the VEGA platform for the renewal. Sixteen 1200W VEGA floodlights were installed, giving a nominal luminaire power of 19.2 kW across the project. The luminaires use AS-1 polarized lenses and 5000K cool-white output. The system is mounted on 16-meter poles, providing the height needed for broad coverage across the playing surface.

Installation & Commissioning

The on-site photographs show the VEGA luminaires being installed at the top of the existing high poles. Because sports-lighting performance depends heavily on aiming, installation is not treated as a simple mechanical mounting task. After installation, commissioning and aiming are used to align the luminaires with the design intent. This final stage is important for maintaining usable coverage across the playing surface and for avoiding unnecessary light in directions that do not contribute to the field.
