Walking into the project site, the classic "hull" shape of the main gymnasium comes into view. "In order to better maintain the historical features and reflect the cultural heritage, in the process of renovation and upgrading, the main gymnasium adheres to the principle of repairing the old as it was." In this renovation, 11 new load-bearing cables were added to the steel cable structure of the roof to strengthen the stability of the overall structure.
Not only the "hull" shape is retained, but the concept of repairing the old as the old is also running through the overall transformation and upgrading process. The reporter circled around the main gymnasium, and saw that the main columns, handrails of the east and west halls, and the mosaic color map above the main entrance of the stadium were all restored according to the original technology. "For example, the main column was repaired using the water brush stone process, and the circle beam of the saddle structure was made of fake stone. The circumference of a circle was 232.5 meters. It took the workers at least 3 months to restore the original shape by hand. A sense of age." Liu Zhen said.
The appearance of the main gymnasium is still what everyone remembers. Entering the inside of the venue is already a new look: the two newly added electronic displays in the venue are scrolling the promotional video of the Hangzhou Asian Games; the cloud ceiling on the top of the venue has a very design sense; the roof steel cable structure is fully exposed, making it more sporty and a sense of openness...
"If the 'old acquaintance' of the Hangzhou Gymnasium comes, it will definitely be refreshing. In addition to retaining the original handrails and grandstand boards, we will systematically update and upgrade the lighting, sound, floor and seating in the venue according to the requirements of the Asian Games." According to Liu Zhen, the museum can currently accommodate more than 4,300 spectators.
The "new" of Hangzhou Gymnasium does not stop there. To meet the needs of the event, new training halls, event function rooms and underground garages were built in the stadium. The 3-storey training hall is connected to the main gymnasium, and is equipped with a waiting room for doping testing, a press conference room, a media office, etc.; the event function room is equipped with a "volunteer home" that undertakes volunteer training and rest functions. ; And the new underground garage of more than 8,000 square meters, a total of 180 parking spaces for the audience to park.
The new venues and facilities are not only experienced by athletes. For example, the sports floor of the main gymnasium has been renovated and upgraded according to CBA basketball standards, and the training hall can be converted into a standard badminton hall after the game. "After the Hangzhou Asian Games and the Asian Paralympic Games, the Hangzhou Gymnasium will return to its attributes as a national fitness venue. Mass sports such as basketball, badminton, and table tennis can be experienced here." Liu Zhen said.
Previously, the early stage operation team of Hangzhou Gymnasium has settled in the venue and completed the operation plan of the venue for the Asian Games competition. Currently, it is continuing to promote the related work of boxing and bocce test matches.
